Seeds from South Africa

Postby Australian » Fri Nov 24, 2017 3:04 pm

I tried to order Lithops and other seeds from Seeds for Africa. This is no longer possible because of the cost of the permits and the administration time taken to comply with the requirements of getting a permit. In the past I bought three times from this company. It was all OK.

I gave up with them. They are more out of stock than having stock.

I agree. They also grow a vast array of different plants. However, I do feel sorry for them because they have lost their overseas business completely. This is for bureaucratic reasons, not poor management.

I ordered seeds from Etwin who lives in South Africa via ebay many times and had no problems with him sending the seeds. Should he have been using permits etc then or is this a new thing?

This is a very new procedure. I had ordered seeds from Seeds for Africa in 2016 without problems. If a seller is very keen on his overseas business, s/he will apply for the appropriate permits and still sell overseas.
