What is CV Embers

Postby chvb » Wed Jun 17, 2015 10:37 pm

These are seedlings from L. bromfieldii var. glaudinae C 382 Mesa Garden seed number 1559.
I thought this fieldnumber should be a somewhat halfway glaudinae and bromfieldii but what I have is as red as I have seen "Embers"on the internet. I am not complaining but does somebody has seedlings from the same Mesa Garden seed number to compare.

regards

Chris

Hallo Chris,

I have seedlings from Mesa Garden 1559.3, which is "Lithops bromfieldii glaudinae C393 shiny red selections" ordered in 2012, which look exactly like yours.
I consider them to be 'Embers'.
There are some really nice colorful plants at your photo.

Viele herzliche Grüße aus Berlin,

Jürgen

Hello Mary,
very well observed! :) A seedling has flourished when it was not yet 1.5 years old! I photographed it, will find the photo tonight and show here

That is remarkable, and yes please :) . Did you repot frequently or fertiliser a lot for this to happen? I have numerous embers seedlings at 18 months old but they are much smaller and nowhere near flowering size.

Edited to say the white grit really suits their colours too.

Here you are! Here the flower opens for the first time on July 16, 2017:

The seedlings get now and then herbal tonics, but these are not fertilizer. Fertilizer should be little, otherwise there are problems of different kind.
White grit is simply light gray pumice.

Which problems come from over-fertilizing?
