Is this still a Lithops or is it now a Dinteranthus?

Here it is listed as Dinteranthus:

This is still Lithops and not Dinteranthus.
L. vallis mariae is related to L. pseudotruncatella, by the ssp. groendrayensis.

I have it the same as Brom. Planted some seeds a week ago. Lets hold thumbs.

I asked Terry Smale by email about this issue. He confirmed that L. vallis mariae is still a Lithops. The confusion created on the Catalogue of Life was based on a controversial article written by Brian Fearn on the MSG Bulletin a few years ago in which he interprets some controversial DNA results on L. vallis mariae. The compilers of the Catalogue of Life, who are clearly not Lithops experts, were mislead by the content of the article. I still need to look for it to see how the content of that article was written. If it was done in a speculative fashion, but the Catalogue of Life took it as a definitive proof, then they created confusion. This is the problem with huge databases on plants.

Then Terry Smale did not tell you anything new either.

Firts news regarding my seeds. This morning the first 3 seedlings were looking at me from behind the small stones/gravel covering the seeds. They are still way to small for a pick but it will follow soon 8-)
